Hometown Storytellers Return June 30

Manchester Community Library and Manchester Historical Society are bringing back the  "Hometown Storytellers," Dave Quesnel, Bob Stannard, and Terry Tyler, on Thursday, June 30 at 7 p.m. in the Hunter Community Room at the Library.The three well-known locals are all Vermont authors who write about our beloved state with humor, nostalgia, and wit. Due to the wild success of last year’s event, the trio was invited back to share more of their uplifting stories.Bob, Dave, and Terry will present selected readings from their respective books. MHS board member Gail Rice, a first-rate humorist in her own right, will serve as emcee for the evening. A reception featuring a savory cheese board and homemade baked items and a book sale will follow the program. Dave Quesnel will read from Grandpaw's Memoirs: Growing Up on a Dirt Road. Kerri MacLaury, librarian at Wilder Memorial Library in Weston, VT says, “Quesnel’s stories are light, funny, and nostalgic, as they follow his life through the woods, cow ponds and back roads of rural Vermont.”   Bob Stannard will read from How to Survive the Recovery - A Vermont Perspective, the follow up to How to Survive the Recession- A Vermont Perspective. Both books were illustrated by nationally acclaimed syndicated cartoonist Jeff Danziger.Terry Tyler will share stories from his trilogy of books, Don't Scratch Too Deep! The Profane History of a Vermont Valley, illustrated by the celebrated A.D. (Sandy) Read.This evening of amusement and reminiscence is free and open to the public. A suggested donation of $5 - $10 will benefit Manchester Community Library and Manchester Historical Society.
